This week in Motor Vehicle

This week learners on the Motor vehicle course have been learning how to solder wires together; this is vital part of the course and allows learners to develop new skills associated with vehicle electronics. This type of task is not required as part of their qualification, but as some learners are now on work placement this is a vital skill to have as it helps them to stand out from the competition when looking for employment.

As well as soldering, we have been working on engine electronic diagnosis. Using the latest Bluetooth on-board diagnostic equipment, learners have had a go at reading basic faults stored in vehicle control units. As their skills develop along the course, we will be delving deeper into the reasons, fault lights come on and how to diagnose and repair them.
