Keepmoat Homes Challenges Construction Learners

Construction learners at Trinity Solutions Academy have successfully completed a 3-week construction challenge set by Keepmoat Homes. Tasked with planning, designing and building a housing development of 10 homes, learners were asked to consider affordability, environmental and sustainability factors whilst ensuring the houses were attractive to potential house buyers. Adopting various roles enabled learners to learn more about the roles and responsibilities that exist within the industry. Supporting Trinity Solutions’ Careers Education Programme, the challenge linked curriculum learning to careers embedding a range of subjects including Maths, English and ICT, and enabled to learners to develop a range of transferable skills including problem-solving, negotiation, planning and working to targets and deadlines. Launched by Geoff Scott, Social and Economic Impact Manager at Keepmoat Homes, the finale saw learners deliver a Virtual PowerPoint Presentation to an audience. The Winning Team, ‘JED Homes’ secured their victory and prize of vouchers kindly donated by Keepmoat Homes, based on their development plan and projected profit.
