Maths Revised

The learners have arrived back into college, after their Christmas break, all revved up for the new term.  In maths, they were shown just how far their journey has come by being shown the number of topics we have covered, and there were some very surprised faces!

At the start of this new term, we have looked at different types of metric measurements, involving length and mass. Although most of the learners have a good grasp of what different metric units are called, it was soon apparent that most have difficulty converting between them. This is where their skills of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1,000 come into play. Their knowledge of decimals and place value have helped some learners to achieve and others to continue practising with. Each learner has been given mini worksheets in class with images of different types of scales to help them work out what each of the values on the dials could be and indicate where different pointers should be positioned.
