Teaching Assistant

This course is designed to equip students with the skills and expertise to support teachers in schools.

Learners will gain a level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning within Schools. You will work towards this whilst on placement with Trinity Academy Upper Site, Trinity Academy Lower Site or one of our local partner schools. You will complete a three or four-day placement, learning from education professionals. All learners will come together one day per week at Trinity Academy, to work toward the completion of coursework.

Course details

This course offers an individualised curriculum designed to prepare you for the world of work. You will gain real experience and knowledge of working in the education sector, as well as improving skills such as communication, working as part of a team and leadership.

The Learn to Work Programme will also include:

Personal Social Development, Employability Skills, Maths and English (Functional Skills to GCSE), Digital Skills and British Values.

All our qualifications are nationally recognised.

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements. Individual needs will be assessed at the interview to ensure you are enrolled in the most suitable programme.

Progression Routes:

The qualification is best suited to those wanting to work within schools as either a classroom teaching assistant or a member of the support team. However, other opportunities include work within childcare, adult education, and special needs support.

Remote Learning:

All theory elements of each course can take place remotely with staff completing regular welfare checks. Training will be given to learners and policies will need to be discussed and acknowledged, before remote learning takes place.
