Forest School: Skills, Teamwork, and Fireside Treats

Last Friday morning, our learners embraced the outdoors with another exciting Forest School session, filled with hands-on activities, new skills, and plenty of teamwork.

The day began with a focus on safety and tool use, as learners were introduced to axe work. Under careful supervision, they practised correct techniques, learning how to handle tools responsibly while building confidence and coordination. It was wonderful to see their focus and determination grow with each attempt.

Learners also took on the challenge of constructing their own wooden stools. Working together, they measured, sawed, and assembled materials, showing great perseverance and problem-solving skills. The finished stools were a fantastic achievement, reflecting both creativity and resilience.

No Forest School session would be complete without time around the fire. Learners worked together to build and maintain it, before enjoying a well-earned treat. Hot chocolate warmed everyone up, while toasted marshmallows and s’mores brought smiles all around.

The session provided a valuable opportunity for learners to develop practical skills, build confidence, and connect with nature. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork, and we look forward to many more outdoor adventures ahead!
