Elaine from Job centre plus came to visit us once again - this time to talk about self-employment. She and the learners discussed how the North-East is a great area for self-employment. The amount of small enterprises has risen since lockdown, because people had lots of ideas and took a risk.
Self-employment may sound preferable to some, but comes with lots of hard work and responsibility.
To start your own business you need:
- A really good business idea and plan
- To do market research
- To have the ability to deliver your product/ service
- Determination and ambition!
Together we weighed up the pros and cons before learners discussed whether they thought self-employment sounded ideal to them.
