Escape the Manor – from Clues to conclusions

Law learners took part in an exciting and immersive “Escape the Manor” challenge as part of the Summer term, transforming the classroom into a crime-solving escape room. The activity saw learners fully engaged as they worked collaboratively to unravel a mystery, analyse evidence, and ultimately determine whodunnit before making their escape.

Throughout the session, learners demonstrated excellent teamwork and communication skills, pooling their ideas and supporting one another to solve a series of complex clues. The task required them to carefully analyse multiple sources of evidence and identify inconsistencies in order to eliminate suspects logically.

A key focus of the activity was developing critical thinking and reasoning. Learners evaluated the reliability of different pieces of evidence and used verbal explanations to justify their conclusions. They also applied mathematical skills, including calculating time intervals, sequencing events, and working with numerical data, to piece together a clear timeline of events.

Learners interpreted law-related vocabulary, followed instructions accurately, and extracted relevant facts from written clues. From identifying suspects and matching evidence to solving numerical puzzles, each task reinforced their ability to think logically and work methodically.

The challenge proved to be an engaging and effective way to bring legal concepts to life. By combining problem-solving, teamwork, and applied learning, “Escape the Manor” provided learners with a memorable experience that strengthened both their academic skills and confidence.

Overall, the session was a great success, showcasing learners’ enthusiasm, resilience, and ability to think like investigators in a fast-paced, real-world scenario.
