Hairdressing

This course offers an individualised curriculum designed to prepare you for the world of work in hairdressing. You will gain real, practical experience and knowledge of the industry whilst improving skills such as customer service, initiative, communication and teamwork.

Course details

There are some excellent progression opportunities for hairdressers including styling for photoshoots, colourist, stylist for events and mobile hairdressing.

Level 1 Course Content:

  • Customer Service/Care
  • Shampooing
  • Blow-drying
  • Health and Safety

Level 2 Course Content:

  • Colour and lighten hair
  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Shampoo and Conditioning
  • Cut women's hair
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Display stock to promote sales
  • Salon reception

The Learn to Work Programme will also include:

Personal Social Development, Employability Skills, Maths and English (Functional Skills to GCSE), Digital Skills, and British Values.

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements. Individual needs will be assessed at the interview to ensure you are enrolled in the most suitable programme.

Progression Routes

We have apprenticeships available through our Salon Pathway Programme. Work placements will be offered during the course to equip you with the skills.

Remote Learning:

All theory elements of each course can take place remotely with staff completing regular welfare checks. Training will be given to learners and policies will need to be discussed and acknowledged, before remote learning takes place.
