Exams Approaching – Supporting Learners at Home

As exams approach, we would like to thank parents and carers for your continued support. This can be a demanding time for post‑16 learners and maintaining a balance between focused revision and wellbeing is key.
Encouraging regular routines, including sufficient sleep, healthy meals and time to unwind, can help learners manage pressure and stay motivated. Calm reassurance, encouragement, and positive conversations can make a real difference to learners’ confidence and wellbeing during this period.
Effective revision works best when it is planned and manageable. Short, focused revision sessions, regular breaks, and active revision strategies such as practice questions, flashcards, or summarising key topics are far more effective than last‑minute cramming.
We encourage parents and carers to check in regularly with learners about how they are coping and to remind them that support is always available in college. If there are any concerns about workload, stress, or exam preparation, learners should speak to their tutors, or support staff as early as possible.
