Learners Gain Valuable Experience at Fareshare

Groups of learners recently took part in a work placement at FareShare, where they gained hands-on experience supporting a local charity that helps reduce food waste and tackle food poverty.

During their placement, the learners worked as part of the food sorting team, helping to check, organise and prepare donated food ready for distribution. They sorted a variety of items, including fresh produce, tinned goods and packaged foods, ensuring everything was safe and ready to be delivered.

The food collected and sorted by the learners will be distributed to food banks, community groups and charities, helping people and families in need across the local area.

The placement gave learners the opportunity to develop important workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, organisation and time management. They also learnt about the vital role charities play in supporting communities and reducing food waste.

All ten learners worked hard throughout their placement and made a positive contribution to the FareShare team. Their efforts helped ensure that good food reached those who need it most while gaining valuable experience for their future careers.
