Mechanics Learners Promote Tyre Safety Awareness During Tyre Safety Month

As part of their practical vehicle maintenance training and in recognition of Tyre Safety Month, mechanics learners recently carried out comprehensive tyre safety inspections on the Trust's minibuses.
Using tyre depth gauges, learners carefully measured tread depths to ensure each tyre met legal and safety requirements. In addition to checking tread depth, learners also conducted visual inspections for common defects, including cracks, cuts, bulges and other signs of tyre wear or damage that could compromise vehicle safety.
The activity provided valuable hands-on experience in completing routine vehicle safety checks and reinforced the importance of regular tyre inspections. Learners developed their understanding of how tyre condition affects grip, braking performance and vehicle handling, particularly in wet and challenging driving conditions.
By undertaking real-world inspection tasks, learners are building the practical skills and safety awareness required within the automotive industry while recognising the vital role tyres play in keeping road users safe.
