Building the Corner

The learners had been tasked with building a brick corner wall using dry bricks as an early training task before moving on to use the mortar. Learners had to make sure each gap between the bricks was the same and stack the bricks in the same manner as if they were using the mortar. Some learners used their fingertips to measure the gaps, so they lined up and some used small bits of wood to do so.
For some of the learners this was the first time they had laid bricks so the work we saw from them was impressive and motivating. The potential in the construction vocation is brilliant and if they continue to show work like this throughout the year we will have very competent brick layers.
