Make and Mend
In the Brick workshop, the learners have volunteered to repair the wooden garden bench and table. The process began with sanding — Learners carefully smoothed the rough surfaces, removing splinters, old paint, and imperfections to reveal the natural wood grain underneath. .
The sanding was thorough, ensuring the wood was perfectly prepared for the next step.
Once all the dust was cleaned off, a rich black stain was evenly applied to the bench and table. This stain not only enhanced the wood’s natural texture but also added a protective layer against moisture and wear. As the stain penetrated the wood, the furniture transformed, gaining a sleek, satin finish.
The workshop restoration left the bench and table smooth, durable, and ready to be placed back outdoors, ready to withstand the elements and provide lasting functionality and style.
