This Week in Motor Vehicle 08.05.26

In Motor Vehicle, learners have been working on the Tyres and Wheels unit, focusing on understanding how wheel and tyre systems are constructed and maintained. Learners explored the different types of tyres used on common vehicles, including radial and cross-ply designs, and examined a range of wheel types found in modern workshops.

Sessions also covered key wheel and tyre terminology, with learners identifying markings and specifications used to describe size, construction, and performance. Practical activities allowed learners to learn how to safely remove, inspect, and replace wheels and tyres, using the correct technical data, tools, and equipment. Emphasis was placed on safe working practices, correct procedures, and attention to detail, including balancing wheel and tyre assemblies where appropriate.

By developing both their knowledge and hands-on skills, learners are building confidence in routine wheel and tyre maintenance - an essential capability for progression within the motor vehicle industry.
