Learners on our bespoke programme have been focusing on life skills and independent living sessions. We began the day looking at what we can do and what we need to practice more. One of our learners identified making hot drinks was something she would like to focus on. We completed a card sorting activity where learners were able to match written and pictorial instructions to form the steps to make a cup of tea or coffee.

Many staff members across the trust were able to have a hot drink made for them. Learners took specific requests from staff on their hot drink preferences and then followed the instructions to make hot drinks. This was a very positive session for learners, gaining new life skills, having time to sit with a hot drink and using effective social skills to engage with staff and peers.
